I can explain the 405 status

The 405 status is caused by the fact that in the browser you are doing a GET operation. I had not noticed that your code is trying to do a POST, so my advice to just paste the same URL into a browser obviously would not work.

But perhaps this is really good news since the shortened URL does work now. Have you retried your code after disabling the IE enhanced security?
